Messi scores, but City SC gets 3-3 draw with Inter Miami

St. Louis CITY SC earned a point on the road against Supporters’ Shield leaders Inter Miami with a 3-3 tie at Chase Stadium. Chris Durkin opened the scoring in the 15th minute, netting his first goal for St. Louis with a wonder strike, before Lionel Messi equalized for the home team ten minutes later. Former Inter Miami midfielder Indiana Vassilev put CITY SC ahead in the 41st minute with a near post finish but Miami drew level again through Luis Suárez who equalized in first half stoppage to level the score at halftime. St. Louis would retake the lead in the second half through a Suárez own goal, but Miami’s Jordi Alba ensured that the points were shared after scoring in the 85th minute.

St. Louis recorded their 15th game with at least three goals since the start of the 2023 season, the most in MLS over the span, and hold an unbeaten 12-0-3 record in those matches.

St. Louis remains undefeated against Miami with the tie (1-0-1 record)Bradley Carnell continues his undefeated run as head coach against Inter Miami (2-0-2 record).

This was the second straight that CITY SC scored three goals against Miami.

Chris Durkin scored his first goal of the season; his first as a CITY SC player.

Célio Pompeu earned his third assist of the season. Pompeu now has three goals and three assists this season.

Indiana Vassilev scored his second goal of the season; the goal was his first against his former club Inter Miami.
