ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - MLS has released the 2024 schedule for St. Louis City SC and it will be a bit busier this season for the club.
The club will begin it's second MLS season at CITYPARK immediately this time as the club's first match of the season will be against Real Salt Lake on Feb. 24, 2024.
City SC fans will have to wait a bit to exact their revenge on rivals Sporting KC as the two clubs will meet up next season on April 20th at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Sporting KC will only visit St. Louis once next season and it won't be until Sept. 28, 2024.
However, City SC will get to see another rival visit CITYPARK as the Chicago Fire SC will visit St. Louis for the first time on May 11.
For those hoping to see the likes of Inter Miami's Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets visit St. Louis next season, they unfortunately will not visit the CITYPARK next season, as the only match between City SC and Inter Miami will take place on June 1 at DRV PNK Stadium in Miami.
City SC's second season will be a bit busier than last year. With the team clinching the top seed in the Western Conference last year, they are set to be competing in the CONCACAF Champions League next year. City SC will take on the Houston Dynamo in a two-leg first round. The first match will be on Feb. 20 at CITYPARK.
Along with U.S. Soccer recently blocking MLS teams from putting their MLS Next Pro teams in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, match congestion will be a growing problem for City SC and it could make their second season tougher than their first one, especially if the club goes on a deep run in the Champions Cup, League Cup and/or U.S. Open Cup.
