ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The 2023 League's Cup for St. Louis City SC was a rather forgettable one, with the club getting unable win either of their group games, getting knocked early of the tournament, and not only that, their fixtures were against eventual-MLS Cup winners Columbus Crew and 2023 Liga MX Apectura winner Club America.
This year's League Cup, their group this year won't be nearly as challenging as last years.
The groups for the 2024 League's Cup, which begin on July 26, were announced on Wednesday, with St. Louis City SC being placed in Group 3 in the West. Along them in their group will be fellow MLS side F.C. Dallas and Liga MX side Juarez.
This year's group for the League Cup shouldn't be as challenging as last year's group was for City SC. F.C. Dallas did make the MLS playoffs last year, but like City SC, the club owned by Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was unable to get out of the first-round of the playoffs, barely losing to second-seed Seattle Sounders. While F.C. Dallas was able to take the best-of-three series to the distance with the Sounders, they lost 1-0 in the elimination game in Seattle, Washington.
Juarez, meanwhile has struggled in league play in Liga MX so far this season. The club finished 15th in the league's Apectura portion of the season and currently in the Clausura portion of the season, the club is winless in its first four games of the half, with the only point coming from a scoreless draw at home against Cruz Azul.
The 2024 League's Cup will begin on July 26 with the final being held on Aug. 25. Similar to last year, MLS season will pause for the competition. All matches will air via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while select games are on TelevisaUnivision, TV Azteca, FOX Sports (FS1), TSN and RDS.
