ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis City SC midfielder Celio Pompeu has had a terrific start to the 2024 MLS campaign with four goal contributions (Goals and Assists) in the nine games he has played so far this season, already surpassing the total of three he had in 26 games last year.
The terrific start has also landed him a new deal with City SC announcing Friday the Brazilian midfielder has signed a new MLS contract through 2026 with a club option for 2027.
"I’m thankful to (John Hackworth) and (Lutz Pfannenstiel) for believing in me from the start at CITY2 and to Bradley (Carnell) for allowing me to prove myself at the MLS level. I can’t wait to continue to grow here and show the St. Louis fans why I am here." said Pompeu through a team statement.
Pompeu kicked off the inaugural season for the St. Louis organization in 2022 at the MLS NEXT Pro level with a bang. He helped lead CITY2 to Western Conference regular-season title with 10 goal contributions, five goals and five assists.
The Brazilian midfielder then recorded two goals and an assist in the MLSNP playoffs as CITY2 finished up as the league’s runner-up. Pompeu finished the 2022 campaign with seven goals and seven assists across all competitions.
