St. Louis CITY SC has announced that its stadium has a new name. The stadium formerly known as Centene is now CITYPARK.
Carolyn Kindle, St. Louis CITY SC's president and CEO, said in a statement that the name was changed after some discussions with Centene.
"We have agreed to reshape the current partnership with them and the focus moving forward will be on developing community health and wellness programming throughout the region," she said. "My family and I are committed to investing in the growth of the city we love and believe CITY SC's new state-of-the-art soccer stadium plays an important role in continuing to build the positive momentum happening throughout the St. Louis region."
The team hopes CITYPARK will be a reflection of the St. Louis community, when it comes to food, neighborhoods, technology and more.
The team's statement said that while Centene is no longer the team's stadium naming rights sponsor, CITY SC and Centene will still work together on things like community wellness initiatives that promote youth soccer and fitness.
