ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The resignation of three Boeing execs, including the company's top executive is going to affect multiple airlines companies in the coming months.

Boeing management will undergo major changes, which includes the resignation of CEO Dave Calhoun, who plans to step down at the end of the year, after a rough couple months for the company after several serious of mid-flight safety incidents, with the most notable being a Alaska Airlines flight on Jan. 5, 2024 that saw a door plug low out on a Boeing 737 Max nine minutes into the flight.

CBS Travel Editor Peter Greenberg joined Total Information A.M. to discuss the impact of the resignations, with Greenberg highlighting that major airlines around the county could be impacted by it.

"The FAA doesn't have the staff to properly inspect a plane, they never did, that's why they were delegating inspections to employees of Boeing and now that has to stop immediately." said Greenberg. "So now what's happening is airlines are going to have to adjust their schedule in the summer and fall, readjust their pilot training, Southwest has to adjust their entire schedule cause they don't have the planes to support the schedule they had out, United had to delay their pilot training."

Greenberg says the impact the resignations has to common plane passengers is also huge and could prove pretty costly.

"If you thought planes were full last year, get ready for even more full planes if that even possible," said Greenberg. "And that leads to higher air fares."
