LOS ANGELES (KMOX) -- A former Missourian isn't quite rich enough to make Forbes' latest tally of the 'ten richest sports owners.'
Stan Kroenke actually owns the world's most valuable sports group, with the now-Los Angeles Rams, Colorado Avalanche, and Denver Nuggets, but missed the list by about $200 million in net worth. He's still estimated to be worth $10.7 billion.
Also left off for the first time in six years: Roman Abramovich, the Russian oligarch who is in the process of selling Chelsea F.C., because U.S. and European sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine almost halved his holdings.
Leading the list is Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, former CEO of Microsoft, worth $91 billion. In the Midwest, there's Cleveland Cavaliers owner Daniel Gilbert, who started Rocket Mortgage, valued at $22 billion.
Kroenke moved the Rams from St. Louis back to Los Angeles in 2016, while trash talking Missouri's largest metro area on the way out. Forbes has previously reported the Rams doubled in value in the year after the move, and the team has since appreciated 231%.
