ALTON, Ill. (KMOX) - An Alton man is killed after being mauled by a dog.
The Madison County Coroner says Robert Echols tried to go inside his house on Lovejoy Lane this past Friday when a dog attacked.
Echols' brother, who also lives there, was able to get out of the house and call 911 using a neighbor's phone.
The call was reported to police a few minutes before 5 p.m. and he was pronounced dead at about 6:20 p.m.
The coroner says marks found on the 53-year-old's body are consistent with "animal bites."
Police have not said if the dog belonged to the brothers or not.
