St. Louis (KMOX) - The proposed old Jamestown Mall redevelopment hits a roadblock.

St. Louis County Councilwoman Shalonda Webb has indicated she opposes putting a logistics center in that location because of community opposition.

The St. Louis County Port Authority owns the property.

"I want to work collaboratively with the Port Authority and the St. Louis County Economic Development Partnership," Webb said. "My ask is 'let's just tear it down'. Let's just get us a clean slate.

"Then if they had issues before now that they don't have to deal with the demolition of Jamestown Mall. Maybe we can attract other developers."

The Port Authority says it doesn't have the money to demolish the property. There are contamination issues that require abatement. The Port Authority estimates that will cost $4 million.

There are currently no other developers or buyers interested in the property.
