Thanks to a D.C. judge, the man known infamously as the “QAnon Shaman,” will begin getting his much-demanded organic food while in jail.
After nine days without eating, Jacob Chansley’s attorney was finally able to get his defendant the special meals he's asked for. Chansley has lost 20 pounds since being transferred from Arizona to Washington D.C. last week.
Chansley is being accused of participating in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, while sporting face paint, no shirt and a furry hat with horns. He was arrested after turning himself in to the FBI. He’s been charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
"QAnon Shaman," considers eating organic food to be part of his "shamanic belief system and way of life," his lawyer told FOX11, Los Angeles.
Chansley went days without eating while incarcerated in Arizona because the detention facility there didn’t offer organic food. The U.S. Marshals Service in Arizona tols FOX 11 it "reached an appropriate course of action regarding the dietary needs of Jacob Chansley" but didn’t say whether or not he received organic food or not.
Chansley and his attorney have made the argument that his dietary needs are based on his religious beliefs.
Prosecutors say Chansley went into the Capitol carrying a U.S. flag attached to a wooden pole topped with a spear and ignored an officer's commands to leave. He entered the Senate chamber with a group of about 25 rioters, posed for pictures at the dais where then-Vice President Mike Pence had been minutes before and left a note that read, "It's only a matter of time. Justice is coming."
