ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Cool Down St. Louis received 100-thousand-dollars in energy assistance funds and 800 air conditioners from Ameren Missouri in preparation for the hot Summer weeks.
St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson, is Chair of the Cool Down St. Louis Public Safety committee. He sajd "I can attest that without exception that this charity has saved lives and continues to save lives. 30 or 40 years ago, there were no consortiums of media, community agencies, first responders, and utility companies collaborating on behalf of the interest of the areas resident's public safety and health."
Urban League President Michael McMillan said "as I travel the country and I talk with other Urban Leagues there is no other organization in this country like Heat Up/Cool Down St. Louis and it is a success because of the hard work, the vision, tenacity."
