The leak happened at the St. Louis division of Paulo just south of Forest Park. The company works with heat treating, brazing and metal finishing with aerospace, automotive and other industry manufacturers.

The St. Louis HAZMAT team and fire department were called to the site this morning. A driver was trying to fill up his tank with anhydrous ammonia at the business when he accidentally let the entire tank empty.

Two firefighters stepped in a pool of the chemical and were taken to the hospital.

No other injuries were reported, but the business was evacuated.

The condition of those taken to the hospital were not immediately known.
