ST. LOUIS- For the third time this week, a St Louis-area child has been shot, as a nine-year-old North County Boy was shot as the home was peppered with gunfire while he was inside.
St. Louis County Police Department is investigating a Wednesday morning shooting incident that happened on the 10700 block of Spring Garden Drive.
According to police, someone fired a barrage of bullets at a ranch home in north St. Louis County. The bullets struck a nine-year-old boy Jayceon Williams in his bedroom.
Police arrived the scene where they found Williams had gunshot wounds. The boy was transported to a local-area hospital, where he is recovering from luckily non-life threatening injuries.
The front of the house is still packed with bullet holes, with a spider web hole in the picture glass living room window, holes in the vinyl siding, headboard and in the bedroom where the little boy was shot.
Janie Leggette, who is the grandmother of the boy, lived right next door, told KMOX News she was still drowsing when she heard shots.
"I just heard gun shots pow-pow, like fireworks," Leggette said, "Then I heard my daughter screaming and hollering while running out of the house 'My son got shot'
17 gun shots were fired at the home, with Leggette says she doesn't understand why someone would fire shots at the house.
"We don't have any enemies in Glasgow Village," Legette said, "My daughter has done nothing to no one. We don't know why someone would come here and shoot our house up."
