ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOX) - A Fort Zumwalt student died, after being struck by a school bus Thursday afternoon around 3:45 p.m.
Fox 2 initially reported it happened at Lupine Court and Belleau Creek Road. It is not clear what caused the bus to hit the child.
KMOX reached out to the Fort Zumwalt District and they released the following statement Thursday evening:
Tonight our community is grieving. A family lost a child, a school lost a student and our entire community feels this tremendous loss. At a time like this, there is no way to express the grief we all are feeling. Right now our priorities are to respect the privacy of the student’s family and to take care of our students, families, staff and community. We have already arranged to have resources and extra support for our students, staff and families at school tomorrow and will do everything we know to take care of them in the days and weeks ahead. I am asking all members of the Fort Zumwalt community to please do what you can to support each other as we work through this difficult time.
Dr. Paul Myers
Superintendent
Fort Zumwalt School District
O'Fallon, Missouri, Police are handling the investigation. At this time no other information is being released.
