ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A St. Louis organization that tries to address multiple barriers for families living in poverty is taking a new team-based approach to providing services.
Beyond Housing CEO Chris Krehmeyer says while his organization has provided a variety of services. Now they'll have an interconnected response for housing, health, education and job needs.
"We have to make sure that we recognize that the issue that confronts families are interrelated and interconnected," said Krehmeyer on Total Information A.M. "Our response to them needs to be the same."
"Folks don't have one issue alone that is preventing them from living their best possible lives."
Krehmeyer says past ways of connecting families with resources wasn't working.
"Here's a list of phone numbers, go call or go call some other agency in town and go get more information," said Krehmeyer. "And that was certainly better than not doing anything
Beyond Housing owns hundreds of rental units and other community resources.
Krehmeyer says the new transformative services department combines multiple specializations and will track outcomes in real time to try to ensure families don't fall between the cracks.
