SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - The primary election in the city of St. Louis isn't until August 2nd, but the first votes can be submitted as early as Tuesday.
That's when the election board will begin accepting absentee ballots for the primary.

Republican Elections Director Gary Stoff says unlike in 2020, you will have to give one of seven valid reasons for voting absentee, unless your are on the permanent disability list. If you are on the permanent disability list, you'll get an application to vote absentee. "They still need to fill out the application, they still need to sign it, they still need to send it us. We verify that they are a registered voter and that they're on that list. We then mail them the ballot."
Stoff says, also unlike 2020, there will be no off-site locations to drop off your absentee ballot. Now, the special election to fill the 21st ward aldermanic seat vacated by indicted former alderman John Collins Muhammad is also on August 2nd, but absentee voting for that election doesn't begin until July 5th.
