A new report finds nearly half of all Missouri hospitals are still not complying with price transparency rules.
That finding comes from the group Patient Rights Advocate. It examined 2,000 hospitals nationwide for compliance with the Hospital Price Transparency Rule.
In Missouri, 54% of hospitals are fully compliant with the federal rule which took effect more than 5 years ago. That's up from only 14% compliance in November of 2024. Still, 46% of hospitals in Missouri are non compliant with the transparency rules.
The report's authors did find legislative progress has been seen in Missouri with lawmakers introducing a bill this year to require all hospitals to post exact, upfront prices, or face penalties.
