President Joe Biden took the stage in Philadelphia this week and talked about democracy being under assault. The White House said it wasn't a political speech, though many thought it was.
KMOX's Megan Lynch talked with CBS News correspondent Major Garrett about the speech and what it meant.
"At one level, you could say there is a moment for the President to speak and describe the situation and a path forward. Yes, all that's true, technically," Garrett said. "But this was a political speech. It's right before Labor Day weekend, the traditional kickoff for what a midterm election cycle, what is the President trying to do motivate his base?"
