This weekend is Missouri's annual sales tax holiday and for the first time, there's no need to check and make sure your favorite stores are within a participating city and county. The break on sales taxes is across the board, statewide, in every jurisdiction.

State Senator Andrew Koenig sponsored the legislation to make the holiday apply evenly. Koenig says the break is a respite for parents, "especially with the high inflation that we've seen the last couple of years, this will make buying school supplies a lot cheaper. Knocking off that city portion which can be as high as five, six percent."

The sales tax holiday runs Friday through Sunday and applies to clothes and school supplies from spiral notebooks to notebook computers. Koenig also notes there's a sales tax holiday in April for energy star appliances.
