Murder on the Metro, one dead in north St. Louis

BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, MISSOURI (KMOX) - One man is dead and another in custody after an argument aboard a Metro bus lead to gunfire Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a 22-year-old man and an unidentified victim, said to be a man in his early 30's, got into an argument around 2:20 p.m. on the bus when it was on Bellefontaine Road, just south of Interstate-270. The younger man pulled out a gun and shot the victim, then ran out of the bus.


Investigators don't believe the two men knew each other.

After the shooting, officers from Bellefontaine Neighbors and St. Louis County found the suspect inside the nearby Aldi Supermarket and took him into custody.

The victim was dead at the scene. Identities are to be released later.
