A coalition of 29 community organizations representing the South Grand neighborhood are demanding action from the City to improve traffic safety.
Rachel Witt from the South Grand Community Improvement district said it's time for the city to do something.
"Enough is enough with the reckless driving in St. Louis," Witt said. "We're having too many innocent people being killed just crossing the street."
The coalition sent a letter to city leaders -- from the Mayor to police to the Streets Department -- calling for enforcement of traffic laws, and improvements to traffic design.
"In three weeks we've had five people hit and three are dead. And we're not hearing any action about what we're doing about reckless driving in the city of St. Louis," Witt said.
She said she wants to know specifics from the city.
"We'd like to hear from them what their statement is on what type of way of enforcement we can take with the reckless driving. This is not five miles over the speed limit or a broken tail light, I'm talking about ten, 20 miles over the speed lmit."
Witt said the letter that the coalition sent out spells out a list of suggestions. However, for now, Witt says enforcement is needed, but the city has not responded to their calls for action.
