Changes could be coming to Illinois flagpoles.
Governor JB Pritzker signed a bill into law Monday establishing a commission for a new Illinois state flag. The panel will look into various designs, and come back with recommendations to the State Assembly by September of next year.
"Our flag looks like a bed sheet with the state seal on it," says State Senator Doris Turner. Turner says the current flag is a symbol of the government, but not the people of Illinois. "When I introduced it, I really wasn't thinking that Illinois needed a new flag, I was really looking at it from the standpoint that it's just a great idea to get people engaged, excited and talking about Illinois."
oc....talking about illinois.
The Senator notes how Utah just reworked their state flag - which was also of the state seal variety - and the public response was tremendous.
