ST. LOUIS - With a strike planned to begin early Monday, the union representing 2500 machinists and aerospace workers at Boeing's St. Louis area facilities say they've been given a modified contract offer from the company.

Members will vote on the offer Wednesday, and a strike could begin Thursday if it's rejected.

IAM Local 837 says an overnight bargaining session with Boeing this weekend generated the new proposal.

Boeing sent KMOX a written statement that says, "This new offer builds on our previous strong, highly-competitive one, and directly addresses the issues raised by our employees. We are hopeful they will vote yes on Wednesday."

Union leaders had reportedly been asking for wage increases, auto progression rates, and 401 K gains.
