ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Approximately thirty-two-hundred voted Sunday, August 3rd to reject a modified four-year labor agreement with Boeing.

This vote follows members’ overwhelming rejection of Boeing’s earlier proposal on Sunday, July 27th. A strike will begin at midnight on Monday. This will be the first labor strike since 1996.

Dan Gillian, Boeing Air Dominance vice president and general manager and senior St. Louis site executive released the following statement.

"We’re disappointed our employees rejected an offer that featured 40% average wage growth and resolved their primary issue on alternative work schedules. We are prepared for a strike and have fully implemented our contingency plan to ensure our non-striking workforce can continue supporting our customers."

IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli says in a release. "IAM District 837 members build the aircraft and defense systems that keep our country safe. They deserve nothing less than a contract that keeps their families secure and recognizes their unmatched expertise.”

IAM Members assemble and maintain advanced aircraft and weapons systems, including the F-15, F/A-18, and cutting-edge missile and defense technologies.

IAM Union members at Boeing facilities in St. Louis, St. Charles, Mo., and Mascoutah, Ill are all affected.
