Da'Monie Moore, Dylan Brocket, Allen Tikvesa and James Beckring stole at least 17 catalytic converters in September of 2021. When police stopped them, they found two converters inside the van and 32 at a separate apartment.

Catalytic converters can cost up to $2,000 to replace. Thefts of the part are on the rise, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. State Farm paid out $12,500 in catalytic converter theft claims in 2019. Now, halfway through 2022, they've already paid out $700,000.
