The CDC has officially changed the guidelines regarding COVID-19 safety, CBS has reported.

The CDC is no longer recommending that people quarantine themselves if they come in close contact with someone infected with COVID-19. Plus, they've recommended that most screening measures be dropped.

Additionally, they recommend that people who are asymptomatic and test negative take two additional tests spaced at least 48 hours apart. Those who have been exposed, they say, should wear a mask around others for ten days and start testing themselves five days after they were exposed.

That recommendation comes after a study from the FDA showed that the sensitivity of at-home tests was only around 63% for asymptomatic people after two tests, but jumped to nearly 80% after a third.

NPR reports that recommendations for unvaccinated people are now the same as they are for vaccinated people, given that there are high numbers of people with some form of immunity whether that's from being vaccinated, previously having COVID, or both.
