Young is alleged to have left a gun unsecured in her home. She reportedly said she usually slept with it under her pillow. But on Monday night, an aunt who was at the home at the time night heard a gunshot and ran into the room where the four-year-old had been sleeping with two and 11 year old children.

The aunt told investigators she found the two- and four-year-old children with the gun and the four-year-old had been shot. The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead.
