ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis City SC and 14th Ward Alderman Rasheen Aldridge are teaming up to help make St. Louis City neighborhoods a bit more safer.

Aldridge and St. Louis City SC, along with Ameren and Heat Up St. Louis will team up together Wednesday Afternoon to distribute LED porch light to St. Louis City Neighborhoods.

Alderman Aldridge say he and 50 volunteers are meeting at DeSoto Park at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to distribute 500 LED porch lights to the Carr Square Neighborhood in St. Louis City.

Those volunteers will be joined by City SC players Joakim Nilsson and Niko Giocchini to help distribute the LED lights.

"It's small things like this that bring a sense of pride back into people's neighborhood," said Aldridge, who credits Ameren for the idea, "When there so many things that we need in communities that are underserved, these small beautifications can go a long way."

Aldridge says dark porches can attract criminal activity and that the installation of LED lights can go a long way of making their home feel safer.

"These LED Lights are really bright," said Aldridge, "When people turn on their porch lights, hopefully it will be one measure to deter crime and let people know the community is lit up and you can't do any crazy things in the neighborhood."
