Clayton Police locate 25-year-old suspect accused of assaulting immigrant at Oak Knoll Park

ST. LOUIS - Clayton Police Department located a 25-year-old suspect who is accused of kidnapping and sexual assaulting a immigrant women in Oak Knoll Park on August 30.

On Thursday, The St. Louis County's Prosecuting Office issued a warrant for Jose Gomez-Velasquez, 25,who was wanted in relation to a sexual assault of an immigrant at Oak Knoll Park.


Shortly after police sent out images of Gomez-Velasquez on Thursday, police were able to locate him in south Saint Louis after receiving a tip that led to arrest.

On Aug. 30, an adult immigrant with limited English and an intellectual disability, reported that she had been sexually assaulted in Clayton, Missouri at a local hospital.

With the assistance of a translator, the victim said she had been walking in a Richmond Heights neighborhood when the suspect took her against her will to a nearby gas station. From there, he led her to a secluded area within Oak Knoll Park, where he overpowered her by force and intimidation and physically and sexually assaulted her before abandoning her in the park.

Gomez-Velasquez is a Hispanic male, standing approximately 5'5" tall, and weighing 140 lbs.

He has a subdermal piercing on his right cheek and multiple tattoos, including a large owl with an eye in a triangle on his throat, lips on the right side of his neck, and a cross behind his left ear.
