CLAYTON, MO (KMOX) - What are the chances of the St. Louis area needing to go back to a mask mandate -- like now being done in Philadelphia -- if COVID numbers pick up down the road?
The acting director of the St. Louis County Health Department -- Dr. Faisal Khan -- says he doesn't think that will happen. "As more and more people get vaccinated, as more and more people practice the common sense precautions we've talked about, I think the community transmission of the virus can be slowed down to the point that it won't create that kind of crisis. So we won't need mandates of any kind."
But he says if conditions get really bad, masking is one tool that is available to a public health agency to reduce community transmission.
