An event educating parents on how to talk to their children about sexual abuse is rescheduled for Monday night March 31st.
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith describes the purpose of the event.
"This is really a way for parents and caregivers to get advice on how to talk to kids about physical abuse and sexual abuse."
Price Smith says this event will be especially important not only for parents who suspect their child might be a victim but also parents who want to be proactive.
"Who want to know, God forbid this topic does come up in their life, how they should handle it."
She says this is part of a boarder effort to reach out and help the community.
"We have had a handful of different types of cases the last few months where there's been a fear there were additional victims, so we thought it was time to go ahead and have this kind of community event to really empower parents."
The event comes after a number of recent high profile sexual assault cases being charged in St. Louis County, including a daycare employee who was charged with assaulting a child at the facility a week ago.
The even takes place at the Children's Advocacy Center on the Campus of UMSL Friday evening.
