CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) - A cyber attack on the Regional Justice Information System, or REJIS, forced St. Louis County to shut down some computer servers Monday, affecting police, the jail, and the courts.

County Executive Sam Page updated the county council Tuesday night, "The cyber attack that happened this week is what happens when you don't make substantial investments in information technology. This problem has come home to roost, and we can't ignore it."

Affected agencies are using paper copies to conduct business until the problem can be resolved.

Page said Saint Louis County's 9-1-1 system is not affected.

He said the Missouri Highway Patrol and Public Safety Department are investigating the attack and a cyber security company is determining if any data was compromised.
