SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - The Midwest could be trapped under a heat dome as we head toward the 4th of July.

AccuWeather forecasters say St. Louis could rack up eight straight days with highs at or above 90.

Actual temperatures in some metro areas in the middle of the nation could approach triple digits over the next week.

In the St. Louis region, the heat will kick in Sunday with a sunny, humid day and AccuWeather Real Feel temperatures spiking near 107 degrees. The actual temperature expected to be 97.

AccuWeather is pointing out, "Because so many areas have received rain in recent days, and some will continue to experience periods of heavy rain leading up to the hot weather pattern, high humidity will be a factor, adding to the high RealFeel® conditions."
