ST. CHARLES CO. (KMOX)--Seniors rejected for missing paperwork are given a second chance to apply for a tax freeze in St. Charles County.
"Instead of saying, 'Sorry, you didn't turn in the right paperwork,' we decided to have a correction period," said Michelle McBride St. Charles County Collector of Revenue. "Anyone who received a notice can come in; submit a complete corrected application and still get into the program for the 2024 tax year."
The application process stopped at the end of June with about 33,000 submissions. About 3,000 rejected applicants were sent email notifications explaining the need for corrections.
September 15th is the deadline to reapply. The collector tells KMOX she has a special area in her office dedicated to helping those reapplying with corrections.
