Belleville, Ill. (KMOX) - Some in the Metro-East got a jolt while attending a big-time community event Saturday afternoon. They received word on social media that a shooting happened not far from where Belleville's popular Chili Cook-Off was taking place.
Belleville Police tell us a person was shot dead on South First near West B Street. Officers were able to quickly determine it was an isolated incident and said festival attendees were not in danger.
Members of the St. Clair County and Belleville Special Response Team found a person of interest at a home near the crime scene and took that person into custody.
