ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO), which touts one of the largest animal rescue/disaster response teams in the U.S. has brought 16 dogs to St. Louis from a tornado-destroyed town in Kentucky.

Bowling Green, Kentucky was one of several areas devastated by storms last week. So the rescuers from St. Louis went there to transport the dogs from shelters and rescue organizations across the area.
“The situation in Kentucky is dire,” said HSMO President Kathy Warnick. “Our rescue team is seeing shelters with damage and animals in need of care and housing. By transporting these shelter pets to St. Louis, we free up valuable space and resources on the ground – while providing an opportunity for these animals to find forever homes.”
Once each animal has passed a health screening, they will be available for adoption through HSMO.
To help support the care of these animals, donations can be made HSMO at hsmo.org/donate.
