ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A St. Louis eye doctor has some strong advice for any of us wanting to catch a glimpse of Monday's solar eclipse.
Opthamologist Dr. Gabriella Espinoza at Saint Louis University School of Medicine says she couldn't be more serious in this warning: do not look at the eclipse with your naked eye.
"You really need to use eye protection to look at the sun," said Espinoza. "The eclipse glasses are typically the best way to look at the sun and experience the Total Eclipse until the sun is completely covered."
Espinoza says that when you take them off, make sure to look away at the sun.
"When you take your eclipse glasses of, do look away from the sun and make sure your eclipse glasses are certified," said Espinoza.
Dr. Espinoza says the St. Louis area is in the partial eclipse region -- with 99.16 percent of the sun covered.
The total eclipse will be more to the south of us -- around Carbondale, Cape Girardeau and Sikeston
