ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - In her waning days as Circuit Attorney, Kim Gardner's office has filed a motion seeking to free 51-year old Christopher Dunn.
Dunn was convicted of shooting and killing 14-year old Rico Rodgers in St. Louis back in May of 1990. For some time activists and attorneys have pushed for Kim Gardner to seek overturning the conviction
The Kansas City Star reports the conviction was based on the testimony of two boys, 15-year-old DeMorris Stepp and 12-year-old Michael Davis, both of whom have since recanted and admitted they lied at trial.
Dunn remains jailed in the South Central Correctional Center in Licking Missouri even though there are the recantations, evidence of Dunn's alibi, and in 2020, Judge William Hickle agreed, with that evidence, a jury would likely have found Dunn innocent
