First-degree murder charges have been filed against a pair of paramedics in Springfield, Illinois after a man was strapped to a gurney face-down and died.
In audio gathered from police bodycam footage, EMT Peggy Finley yells at Earl Moore Jr., saying, "Sit up, now. I am not playing with you tonight." Moore was apparently suffering from alcohol withdrawals at the time.
The video later shows medic Peter Cadigan tightly strapping the man down before he's loaded into the ambulance. An autopsy found that he died of asphyxiation. Prosecutors say first-degree murder charges are warranted since the paramedics would have known strapping him face-down could kill him.
