On Equal Pay Day, St. Louis advocate says women need to 'know their worth'

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - The average women in the US had to work until March 15th this year, to earn the same amount as her male counterparts did at the end of the December. It's called Equal Pay Day.

"This year honestly, is the first year in a really long time that it's earlier in the year, which is progress, but we're still really not where we want to be," says Leslie Gill, President of Rung for Women. Rung helps women explore careers that provide a living wage and advancement. A decade ago, Equal Pay Day fell in mid-April.

Gill says women need to research and know their worth, and then practice with mentors to ask for more equitable wages.
