KIRKWOOD, MO (KMOX) - An ex-boyfriend is accused of murdering a Kirkwood woman.

Police identify the victim of Saturday night's shooting in a Kirkwood home as Elizabeth Gill. The suspect in her death is ex-boyfriend, 54-year-old Todd Wilbert.

The St. Louis County Prosecutor issued a statement, saying "according to a Kirkwood Police Department investigation, Wilbert contacted the victim, with whom he had previously been in a romantic relationship and co-owned a business, several times that day asking for money. He arrived at her residence at approximately 7:30 p.m., went to her back patio, entered her home without permission, and then shot her two times at approximately 10:15 p.m. She died in her home as a result of these gunshot wounds."

A 9-1-1 dispatcher says she heard a man's voice as she talked to Gill, then heard the fatal gunshots. Officers say they found Wilbert outside with a gun nearby and inebriated when they arrived.

Wilbert is charged with Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Burglary 1st Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon - While Inebriated.
