ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's a worse-case scenario for a major pet rescue organizations in the St. Louis area. Stray Rescue of St. Louis says its Facebook page was shutdown right before its Giving Tuesday donation push.

The group says it started getting messages from the social media company on Monday night, just as it was putting the finishing touches on its Giving Tuesday plans. The non-profit group says it's the "single biggest fundraising day of the entire year" that's "completely driven by social medial."
It had more than 200,000 followers, until its page was "unpublished."
"OUR FACEBOOK PAGE HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN! Due to a violation of community standards (the photos we share), our entire page has been taken down," the group posted on its website. "This couldn’t be worse timing. We are working with support, but we can’t help but look at the dogs and cats around us and we are crushed. They are the ones who will suffer."
As of Wednesday afternoon, the page was still shut down.
You can still make donations at StrayRescue.org/givingtuesday2021.
The shelter planned to match all donations up to $84,000, which will help pay for medial costs for animals at the shelter. They say the upcoming winter months can be the most challenging.

"This is unfiltered, it's the reality of what we see everyday," Director of Development for Stray Rescue, Aimee Dearsley told KMOV. "Those videos are important so people know what they're helping us with."
