ST. LOUIS - The father of a Festus teen who was previously missing is appalled by the treatment of his daughter by the the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
Jaiden Treon, 16, went missing on June 22nd, taking the family car and running away from her father Timmy and home after cutting off her ankle monitor. Treon had a ankle monitor on because she was serving probation for unspecified reasons. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has not commented on the specifics due to her age.
On Tuesday morning, Timmy woke up to find his daughter standing on the driveway.
"I asked her 'are you ok?' and she said 'yeah, I'm okay dad' " said the elder Treon, "We had an especially long hug, then I left her in the care of my mom, and we already initiated a phone call to Jefferson County to come pick her up."
Timmy Treon cites a group called Trucks 4 Kidz, a group who helps families locate missing children.
However, the pleasantries would be cut short as Jefferson County Sheriff's Department would take her into custody on Tuesday.
Treon has been critical of the department's treatment of their lack of urgency to find his daughter.
"Jefferson County didn't do anything other than pick her up and take her to the juvenile detention center," said Treon.
At the time of her disappearance, the department told KMOX department finding Jaiden was "no less important" to their detectives than the 23 other missing person cases they were working on.
Despite his criticisms, Timmy Treon says he is satisfied that his daughter is now safe--even if it is behind the walls of a detention center.
"I don't have to worry about her being unsafe, abused, using drugs, hungry," said Treon, "It sadly behind those walls, but she's behind them and she won't get hurt.
