ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A St. Louis-native is taking over for a legend at one of the most recognized youth programs in town.
Brandon Williams will take over as the new President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater St Louis in the new year, replacing Dr. Flint Fowler, who led the club for nearly 30 years. Fowler will help assist Williams with the transition through the end of the year.
"(Fowler) is just an amazing man, an amazing human outside of what his career has been in youth development and really community building," said Williams on 'Total Information A.M.' "(The Boys and Girls Club) is really focused on finding resources for the next generation of leaders. It's about the community and to do that for over 28 years and makes that his life's work is really amazing."
"I'm proud to sit next to him and gain some wisdom. He can't leave just yet. Tell him Jan. 1 is his last day, not right now, so it's been really good."
Williams is a Hazelwood East grad, played for the San Francisco 49ers, then-St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL and most recently was an exec with the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL.
"I'm incredibly thankful for this opportunity. Growing up in St. Louis left an indelible mark on my life." said Williams. "Growing up as a Club youth, I understand how important BGCSTL is to the fabric of our community. Our youth are the next generation of leaders, and it's my duty to ensure we continue the legacy of providing them with a safe environment where they can thrive."
