ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A Fortune 1000 company made news Tuesday announcing that they would move their headquarters from California to St. Louis.

Advantage Solutions, an advertising services company partially known for those product sampling booths in grocery stores, announced that the company is set to move their global headquarters to the Commerce Bank Tower in Clayton, Missouri. The relocation will take place in the first quarter of 2024.

Advantage Solutions CEO Dave Peacock tells KMOX the move to St. Louis isn't necessarily because they wanted to leave California.

"If you look at our business in retail and consumer products, more of it is Midwest and Eastern Bay, so it keeps us closer to our clients and customers," said Peacock.

Peacock highlighted one of their clients Kroger as a example. With the retail company headquarters in Cincinnati being only a little over hour flight from St. Louis compared to a four to five hour flight from California.

"It just makes it easier to get out with customers and teammates when we are based in the Midwest," said Peacock.

Peacock says they did look at other cities in the Midwest and he believed that what made St. Louis stand out was that it was a city on the rise.

"There's alot of good things that are going on here," said Peacock, "You got 16 Fortune 1000 companies here right now, great amenities, it's an affordable place to live and very attractive."

Advantage Solutions, who have around 60,000 workers worldwide says they will use the new headquarters as a collaboration hub to develop innovative new strategies for the world's largest consumer goods companies and retailers.

Peacock says they will retain a key collaboration center and a back office in California, with a few key leaders will still operating out of the state.
