ST. LOUIS (KMOV) - Jamie Siminoff is a familiar name to a few people, from founding the Ring smart doorbell, which would later become apart of Amazon, to his appearances on ABC's hit show "Shark Tank".
Now Siminoff has a new venture and he's decided to place the new company's headquarters in St. Louis.
Siminoff is set to relocate the headquarters of his new endeavor, "Latch," soon to be rebranded as "Door.com," from New York City to Olivette, Missouri, which is only five minutes away from Ladue.
Siminoff talked to KMOX during a visit to see the company new headquarters about the decision to move his latest venture's headquarters to St. Louis and what made St. Louis attractive to him.
Siminoff says his first exposure to Missouri came through an investment while being a guest "Shark"(Investor) on Shark Tank.
"A woman came on (Shark Tank) from northeast Missouri up in La Belle (2.5 hours from St. Louis), and I ended up investing in the business known as Moink," said Siminoff.
The investment of Moink led to Siminoff being fond of the small community up in northeast Missouri, leading to him buying a coffee shop and a farm in the area.
The investment would also lead Siminoff to get a taste of St. Louis, as he would routinely fly into Lambert International Airport and drive two and a half hours to La Belle, Missouri.
Siminoff says what piqued his interest in the city was not just the sports and food scene in the area, but the diversity of the workforce in the area.
"Just seeing and meeting people that were doing so many different things, I thought 'this is where I'm going to do my next company'," said Siminoff.
Siminoff new venture "Door.com" will have their headquarters located on Pryce Road in Olivette, Missouri. The building, which is slightly under 50,000 square feet, excites Siminoff.
"We hear it used to be a southern comfort distillery," said Siminoff, "It's a great beautiful facility out there and a beautiful location. We looked all over St. Louis, but this was what fit the need for us."
The headquarters will be at the center of everything for the new company, from customer service and sales to warehousing, testing, and quality assurance.
"It will be the true headquarters of the company," said Siminoff.
Siminoff says he has already started the hiring process, with 16 full-time employees at the moment. He says the plan is to get to 30 full-time employees right now then scale from there.
"We've found amazing people, from a new CFO, planners, warehouse manager, etc." said Siminoff, "It has been playing out exactly as I hoped."
Siminoff says he hopes to get headquarters fully operational and everyone in the building by the end of this year or the beginning of 2024.
The company is also currently hiring across Sales, Finance, Engineering, and Warehouse Operations in St. Louis for key roles such as Accounting Senior Manager, Revenue Operations Manager, Accounting Director, Operations Coordinator, Head of Firmware QA, Senior Payroll Advisor, Inventory Accountant, Revenue Accountant, and more.
