ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - Five St. Louis County restaurants have been ordered close or given their final notice by the County Public Health Department for violating County Executive Sam Page's order against indoor dining. The Department issued the following statement on the Tuesday's action:
"On Tuesday afternoon, the St. Louis County Department of Public Health, assisted by municipal and St. Louis County Police officers, moved to close five dining establishments that continued to violate a DPH health order to cease indoor dining. Each establishment had been given three written warnings prior to today’s action. Four of the five establishments received notification that their permits to operate were suspended.
"The establishments – Bartolino’s South, Final Destination, OT’s Bar and Satchmo’s – were ordered to immediately cease operations.
"Each establishment has the right to ask for a hearing before the suspension becomes final. The fifth establishment, Acapulco, will also be given notice of suspension if it continues to offer indoor dining.
"If any of the five establishments continue to violate the order by operating, DPH will seek a court order enforcing the closure."
Satchmo's in Chesterfield had been the scene of a rally Tuesday, with state lawmakers coming to announce their proposals for legislation restriction such orders.
Satchmo's owner Ben Brown told KMOX at the event, "I know in my heart I'm doing the right thing. And, despite whatever threats they throw at me, I need to continue doing it. Not just for myself, but for all the restaurants out there and all the people who are affected by this order."
