ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- Francis Howell School District students will return to in-person learning Thursday after an 'unexpected network activity' forced classes in the district to be remote to begin the week.

On Wednesday, the district announced on their X, formerly known, as Twitter account, that in-person classes will resume Thursday, Feb. 22.

"We would like to thank the FHSD community for their patience and understanding as we worked to ensure the operation of all systems necessary to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff." The district said in it statement.

Earlier this week, Francis Howell Schools District was forced to cancel in-person classes in the district due to "unexpected network outages impacting critical systems."

Along with in-person learning, the school's Vacation Station was also forced to closed the previous two days. The district says Vacation Station and other programs will also operate as scheduled.

Throttlenet's George Rosenthal joined KMOX's Total Information A.M. Wednesday to discuss the closings and if 'unexpected network outages' may have been another way of saying they may have been hacked.

"I won't speculate because (the district) hasn't admitted it, but the word 'unexpected' basically means they are in trouble," said Rosenthal. "You don't shut down 23 schools just by accident. That was a designed system."

"They said in their quote "critical systems" so multiple systems don't just go down all at once on their own. So something happened."
