Michael Brown memorial rebuilt, activists gather on 7-year anniversary of death [VIDEO]
FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOX) - Activists continued their call for change on Monday, seven years after the deadly police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson.
A series of speakers marked the anniversary of Brown's death by lauding the progress made, but also calling for further action. Among the speakers were Ferguson Mayor Ella Jones, US Rep. Cori Bush, Michael Brown Sr. and his wife Cal Brown.
Later that night, a protest was held outside the Ferguson Police Department, where crowds again called for progress. They blocked traffic, but not major incidents have been reported. You can see photo from the memorial and protest below and video at the top of this page comes from radio host Derk Brown of our partner station 96.3 The Lou.
No charges were filed against the former officer who shot and killed the 18-year-old, but a DOJ investigation of Ferguson police practices prompted a consent decree process that is ongoing.
