Missouri Governor Mike Parson detailed a new plan that he hopes will reduce crime throughout the state. "Safer Missouri, Stronger Missouri" includes increasing resources and training for law enforcement, harsher penalties for violent crime and helping non-violent felons get a second chance.

Dan Mehan, President of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, joined Total Information AM to explain the new initiative. He said crime reduction is imperative to changing the narrative about cities in Missouri and welcoming more people.
"The biggest headwind to employers is finding and retaining good employees. -- and if you're trying to attract people to Missouri, to our economic opportunities that we have," Mehan said. "And when when you Google Missouri, or Google St. Louis, what comes up? You see the violent crime, you see that sort sort of thing taking, taking the head headline."
